Cyber Monday may be over, but there's still a whole month of online shopping before the holidays hit.
KDLT reporter Breanna Fuss sat down with our very own Eric Ellefson for some tips on how to NOT have her credit card info and/or identity cruelly stolen by cybercriminals. And, as Eric explains, there's actually a lot you can do to protect yourself online:
1. Look for the SSL.
This is the little green bar or green-colored text in the URL bar (which may also say "https://" instead of "http://"). It means that your data is secure and protected:
2. Make sure your browser is up-to-date.
Are you still using Internet Explorer 7? It's time for an upgrade. (Or a switch to Chrome.) Help your computer protect itself with the latest security updates.
3. Don't use your debit card.
"You have an extra layer of protection with your credit card company that you wouldn’t have with your bank account," Eric notes.
Stay worry-free this holiday season with safe online shopping!
