Those using the standalone Facebook Messenger app should have noticed something today if they drop down the release notes for the app update:
"Send a quick voice message when you have more to say" as well as "call friends for free right from Messenger"
This is a big deal. Users can now text, email, call and leave voice messages right from within Facebook. Inside Facebook comments that "the social network is in a position to connect people through a single identity rather than through phone numbers."
Think about the change that's happened and what phones have become over the last ten years. Now think about the next ten. It's a little mind-blowing, isn't it?
