The Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Paul Ten Haken, president and founder of Click Rain, Inc., the Young Entrepreneur of the Year in South Dakota.
This award has been given out since 2001 and is part of the SBA’s annual celebration of small businesses during National Small Business Week, a tradition that dates back to 1963.
According to the SBA site, "more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year."
“This recognition is a huge honor, but any successful entrepreneurial venture is a team effort. We're very fortunate to have an amazing crew at Click Rain that has made us what we are today," Ten Haken said. "The business climate and entrepreneurial network in South Dakota also makes hanging a shingle here and chasing a goal very achievable.”
Criteria for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year includes:
- Taking on risk to start a business
- Success measured through sales and profits
- A unique business model
- Commitment to the local community
“Paul has not only grown Click Rain into an outstanding company, but his support for the local business community and betterment of the local community is exemplary,” said John Brown, district director of the state’s SBA office.
Ten Haken will be presented the award at a ceremony on Thursday, June 5.
