A friend of mine recently sent me a note regarding a high-profile domain name that slipped through the cracks earlier this year. It could happen to anyone, I suppose, but failing to renew a domain name like this one could end up getting you water boarded. Turns out, it ended up being about a $35,000 mistake by the company that let it lapse. Oops.
George W. Bush's presidential library domain name has been retrieved after a Web developing company accidentally let it expire - and it apparently came at a high price.
Raleigh, N.C.-based Illuminati Karate paid less than $10 for the domain name and sold it back earlier this year for $35,000 to the library's contracted Web developers, Yuma Solutions.
