In the past year, we’ve seen an insurgence in brands jumping on the chatbot train. Account Executive Paige Ratzloff shares how chatbots are changing the way we interact with brands and how your company can take advantage of chatbots.
What are Chatbots?
In 2016, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said “Bots are the new apps.” A chatbot is built on logicand asks a series of questions, with your answers determining their ultimate response.
Chatbots are predicted to streamline frequent tasks like fulfilling orders, providing customer service, or answering a user’s question.
And streamline they will! According to Juniper Research, Chatbots will help save $8 billion dollars annually by 2022.
What Industries are Using Chatbots?
A few industries, like travel and transportation, are very quickly adopting and integrating Chatbots into their workflows. Via Facebook Messenger, the Uber Chatbot is able to help users find schedule, and pay for a ride without having to download the Uber app.
Expedia, Kayak, Skyscanner, and Chatbot specific apps like Hipmunk and Snaptravel can help you find a hotel or flight.
Healthcare has also entered the chatbot world. HealthTap launched a Facebook Messenger Bot in 2016 that answers health questions.
Last year they also launched Dr. A.I., a software that uses your own medical history and information along with the knowledge of over 100,000 doctors to provide a list of likely diagnoses.
How Can I Use Chatbots?
How can your brand take advantage of chatbots? Are there any processes that are frequently repeated, or customer questions that are usually asked? Those are both areas that may benefit from creating a chatbot.
According to Gartner, in less than three years, the average person will have more chats with bots than their spouse. It might be time to schedule a date night.
