We’ve seen a trend from our clients–local and national–who are putting more of their budgets towards Facebook each year. And the numbers are backing it up. According to Mary Meeker’s annual report, advertisers in the United States spent nearly $15 billion on Facebook advertising in 2016, up 62 percent from 2015.
Recognizing the continued and growing importance of this powerful platform, we are excited to announce that Katie Parr, a marketing engineer at Click Rain, has recently become a Facebook Certified Buying Professional.
The exam covers many topics integral to successful Facebook campaigns, including targeting, ad types, optimization, consumer insights and reporting. The Facebook Blueprint certification requires visiting a proctored exam center to complete a two-part test. A Blueprint certification is the most advanced level in the Blueprint program and the only certification officially recognized by Facebook.
“A buying professional in the eyes of Facebook is not just a test to see if you can place an ad or publish a post,” said Katie Parr. “It's understanding how to go above and beyond to craft exceptional campaigns that actually align with a client's business goals.”
When Facebook first launched, they only had two ad sizes. These lived on the side of the page, and targeting was done by a user’s .edu email address (Mashable). Now, Facebook offers more than ten ad formats with hundreds of targeting options, across Facebook, Instagram, and third-party websites and apps.

“Facebook is constantly changing and adapting to the world of marketing, particularly in the realm of marketing technology,” said Katie. “I loved learning about specialized Facebook tools that go beyond just the Ads Manager interface, like the Creative Hub, Offline Events Manager, and Facebook SDK.”
“Katie displays Click Rain values, like innovation and excellence," said Kate Kotzea, director of marketing technology. "We strive to be the best, and third-party certifications like this provide validation that we are experts in our field."
Please help us congratulate Katie on this achievement!
