Click Rain President Paul Ten Haken was the commencement address speaker at the 2014 University of Sioux Falls commencement ceremonies on May 18. A 2005 graduate of USF’s MBA program, Paul delivered the address at both the graduate and undergraduate ceremonies.
Paul spoke on mistakes he’s made in his personal life and career and the power they can have when one learns from them. Paul even managed to work in a selfie of him and the crowd of 1,900 into his talk.
“You need to look for mistakes you’ve made, and sometimes you need to look hard,” Paul said. “When you find those screw-ups, recognize them, and embrace them. What they teach you is amazing.”
One example of a mistake Paul spoke on was the priorities he held at the beginning of his career. A 2011 mission trip to the Dominican Republic helped reset his goals and bring about the “faith, family, work” mantra at Click Rain.
"Paul's talk at our commencement ceremonies was the perfect mix of humor and passion wrapped around a great ethical message,” said Dr. Mark Benedetto, president of the University of Sioux Falls.
The 2014 class was the largest in the school’s history graduating 312 undergraduates and 142 graduate degrees.
