Mission Haiti is a 501(c)3, faith-based, non-profit organization with the vision to reach the people of Haiti one village at a time. The organization has helped thousands of Haitian children and families, by providing education for orphaned children through a sponsored academy and caring for the sick and the elderly. Then they found themselves at ground zero when Hurricane Matthew slammed into Haiti with winds up to 145 miles per hour on October 4, 2016.

The Problem

Hurricane Matthew destroyed large amounts of homes and infrastructure, so there was an immediate need for funding to provide relief to the surrounding community. Mission Haiti approached Click Rain to share storm updates and ways to assist post-hurricane with Mission Haiti donors. We also worked to spread awareness of the Mission Haiti name during a time that the word “Haiti” was being used on social media, in the news, and in search engine searches.

The Solution

Search Advertising

Prior to Hurricane Matthew arriving, Click Rain helped Mission Haiti become approved for Google Grants, a program that provided them with $10,000/month in free Google advertising spend. Capitalizing on this resource, we quickly created targeted search ads for people looking to contribute to relief efforts in Haiti.

Facebook

Additionally, we created ads to help alert current and potential supporters of Mission Haiti of the how they could contribute funds to help with the relief, while also highlighting a matching fund opportunity deadline to increase urgency.

Email Marketing

We expanded Facebook ad messaging for email marketing sends to send longer updates to Mission Haiti email subscribers.

The Result

Since we started the campaign, Mission Haiti has been able to raise $426,665 in funds. This has been incredibly helpful in providing crucial supplies to the local area as they have begun working through the wreckage that Hurricane Matthew left behind. This amount is more than 80% of their overall goal—and it was raised in 3 months.

Additionally, Mission Haiti has been able to increase its awareness and reach new supporters as the ads continue to impact new people looking to help with relief for Haiti. On Facebook, during the month of October alone, page likes grew by 30% and paid and organic posts reached an average of 6,862 people, with an organic post reaching 16,034 people in one day.

Thanks again for all you do! And, without a doubt, that Google Grant is producing results. My phone and email has been off the hook with callers from MA, VA, FL, PA, NJ, etc, all saying that they'd never heard of us before but we were the #1 result on their Google search.
